Posts Tagged ‘Spirit Messengers’

This morning, I was sitting in my ‘studio’…for those of you who know do not know the story, I set up an artist studio in my garage. I had the garage door open, the east light streamed in and I had Pachelbel playing in the background. Perfect!

As my friend and I chatted, I noticed our little mockingbird over on the fence sitting under the oak tree. She sat there and sat there. I kept looking over at her wondering what she was doing. I really felt like she was staring at me.

Nana let Rico out and even with this massive 190 lb. dog walking around the yard, she continued to sit there. Maybe it was 5 minutes or 10, in bird time it was an eternity!

When messengers show up, they point to a ‘moment’ … they come at a specific time to get our attention. I’ve always called this mockingbird our ‘mama’ mockingbird because she has been living in our holly bush by our front door for years now. The first year she had eggs, and nearly every day we were out there trying to get a good gander at them. Since then, I’ve never seen eggs, but she still looks pregnant…she is round and beautiful.

When I quit focusing on her and started noticing what we were talking about, I ‘got’ it. We were talking about being ourselves and creating a life that reflects our deepest truth. We were talking about living at a level of no exceptions…full living. When we changed the subject, she flew away.

About an hour later, I came in and noticed she was sitting on the limb right outside of my office window. She seemed to be looking at me again. Although she has allowed me to stand as close as three feet or so to her, I had never seen her a mere inches away. I watched her through the window, and thought, “She is truly so gorgeous!” I wondered why we were having this dance today. I felt like she was saying, “I’m going to stay here until you ‘get it’ girl!”

Suddenly I felt inspired to go look up the meaning of her energy, and with that, she flew away.

She has become a dear friend…a companion in many ways. After all, she has been here THREE YEARS…sitting patiently at the door (seriously… who could make this up???) in her nest.

Here’s what mockingbird energy is all about…

Mockingbird teaches you the power of song and voice. It can help you learn new languages and speak them fluently. People with a Mockingbird totem are known for their talents, rather than their appearance.

It can also help you find your “sacred song” or your life’s purpose
and helps you realize your inner talents. Mockingbird will help you act on it without fear.

Remember that your inner song is never lost – if you missed one opportunity, another one will always appear. (I SO believe this!!)

Mockingbird also helps you flush out people and events that can hurt you and allows to see who and what they are. You hear the true song of others.

Follow your own path.  Learn to take what you can and apply your own creative imagination and intuition to it and your life will be in harmony.

Not only has this encapsulated the last three years… it also highlights the main themes of the novel I am writing.

Thank you sweet mama mockingbird…I love you!

Mockingbird

P.S. This is not our girl, but is the closest thing I could find that really looks like her (isn’t she beautiful). She is snowy colored and has a sweeping black mark that leads to her eyes. They say she is a ‘northern’ mockingbird, which is kind of funny since we live in the south.

The gentleman who came to help me with my roses (he is a horticulturist and has an amazing heart for plants) told me that mockingbirds can be very aggressive – even dive-bombing people who get near their nests. For the longest time, I thought our mama bird was a scissortail – until just this last spring when I asked him if he knew what kind of bird she was (she is always hanging around when we are outside).

He said for sure she was a mockingbird, and that has led us to today when I finally went to see what kind of energy she was bringing to all of us, including me. For the record, she was soooo patient with us looking at her nest. She was never, ever aggressive. A true messenger of spirit if there ever was one!

I haven’t posted an email in a long time, so here’s a reminder of what I do here. Basically, I share an email (with permission) and then share what my response. Here’s a recent email from a listener of Queen of Dreams Radio.

Tina, I stumbled across your podcast a few weeks ago when I was in need of a little spiritual guidance. Since then I have truly loved listening to the conversations. I listen to the podcasts and somehow always seem to miss the live show, which I regret because I would love to join in the conversation. I have always been drawn to the ‘big questions’ in life and felt a pull in the direction of the spiritual world. It’s been a cause of concern over the years, struggling with the ideals I seek and the isolation I feel in the modern world which seems so disconnected from spirit. Therefore, in the past few weeks I have decided to really concentrate on connecting with the spirit. (I’ve always been a seeker of knowledge…since probably bout the age of five.) I just wanted to write you this comment to let you know that your show is helping me grow. I have listened to you so much that it seems odd that you have introduced yourself to me yet I have not done the same. BUT in the future I will really try to get in one a live call (which would be a first for me) because I always have so many questions and comments during the show! it’s always a drag when I listen to the podcast, full of my own questions, and you ask ‘anyone have any questions?’ and there is no way for me to respond.

I feel odd adding this bit but it seems like something you might be able to make a little clear for me. Last year when I was shopping in the goodwill store I met an older women who had a very eccentric air about her. We started talking and soon it turned into this very deep almost uncomfortable (for me) conversation about life, the universe and all the rest. Anyhow I felt like she could really see me, like sense my soul, maybe she was a medium or psychic? Anyhow, she told me that I have a beautiful spirit and a great mission to fulfill in this life in the intangible or spirit world for the progress of humanity’s growth (as opposed to the materialistic world) and that I have a lot of ‘people’ who travel with me all the time to watch out for me. Could she have been speaking of spirit guides or what? I sort of identified with the things she said, in some cases she seemed dead on. But at the same time I was thinking perhaps this is just another crazy lady. I can’t decide if it actually means anything.

If you have the time and inclination I’d love to hear your thoughts about this email! Keep up the fantastic work that you do and I will make every effort to become more connected to the live show. Thanks! Emily

Here’s my email response…

Hi Emily!

What a nice surprise to receive your email today. I’m pleased and happy to meet you. As you can hear on the podcasts when I ask if there are any questions… (crickets chirping in the background)…someone with questions would be so welcome! We look forward to meeting you.

When you talk about this woman you met in Goodwill… she feels magical to me. I believe that messengers come in all forms and sizes. Some are of this earth, some are from the other planes of creation, and all are sent to respond to our asking.

When we go beyond what is in our world and in our ego mind (the critic), then we can take the gift and move forward in a beautiful, effortless way. Whether she was crazy or not doesn’t matter… the connection you felt is what matters. Whether what she said was ‘right’ or not doesn’t matter, the parts that felt right to you are what matter. The parts that resonated with you…stirred you…moved you… those are the parts to pay attention to. The others… let them fall where they may as you dance around with the gift of what was real for you.

She was an external messenger responding to your asking… from what you shared, the questions you may have been asking may have been around … What I am here to do? What’s the point? Do I have a greater purpose? What is my purpose?

These experiences come to us so we can see in our so-called ‘real’ (external) world what we are thinking…wondering. When we are awake, we can take these gems and then ask more questions… creating every single step of the way. So, in effect, you created that experience with her.

I don’t know if this email does this justice, but basically, I believe, we draw to us in every moment what we are asking for. That is why it is so easy to back up and see the questions. But, the skill of flowing with it is to not go back to our external world for the answers, but to go within to dialogue with yourself so you can truly begin your dance in the fire of your own spirit (which is connected to all other spirits).

In this… I would suggest that you meditate… go back to the time with the woman, then notice what stands out… then ask questions as you go through it… as you remember her telling you about your purpose, ask questions of your higher self as to what that means… with ‘people’ … what does this mean… and listen inside to what that means. You could do this now… without so much formality… and listen inside for your answers. Or not… do what feels right.

My sense is that you already know what was important from that conversation. The ego will always look outside for validation/confirmation for what the soul already knows. Don’t let your ego drag you around! It’s a real drag. lol

Always trust yourself (what feels true to you in your core)… your own wisdom… and you will unite with the greater parts of all you are and the greater part of all.

From my perspective, we all are here for a higher purpose… and we are definitely ALL surrounded by a team of spiritual helpers who love us and support us in all ways.

Your higher purpose has been with you since you were born… look for the clues if you are inclined…there are many along the way! When we feel that the world has no meaning, it is usually our projection of our own internal feeling of not having meaning in our own lives. Turn inward… there’s a rich land there waiting for you to discover her.

Big hug-

Tina

P.S. Remember you are your creator (co-creating with God)…so whatever it is you are noticing is what you are creating. If you notice disconnection, you will find it. If you notice connection, you will find it. It truly is up to you. Glad you have joined us in our connection! If you’ve listened to the last few shows, you’ve heard me sharing this… truly, we create from inside first. What a wonderful, exciting adventure we are in! I love this work because you are always just a moment away from feedback of what you are thinking, noticing and creating! Create things that bring you great joy by noticing the things that bring you joy. For instance… the critic with the woman says… is she crazy? But your beautiful spirit says…wow, she is rich… let’s keep listening. Your critic says… am I crazy for listening to this crazy woman? Your spirit says… I’m enjoying this and I can feel our greater connection.

You never know how a messenger will come to support you!

  • what does it mean to have a beautiful spirit

After Wildcatter Ranch, we went to see The Cliffs. More city-slicker style, if you ask me, this resort is built on the… yes…cliffs by Possum Kingdom Lake – a clear water lake that is absolutely breathtaking. It has a ‘real’ spa, a golf course, and all the ‘city’ things that make things easier. Nothing against ‘roughin’ it’ – I just prefer to be pampered – I am the Queen of Dreams after all!

While at the Cliffs, we saw a bird that I see so often but have never known what kind of bird it is. I asked, and Kathy knew right away – it was a Robin.

I felt so happy to FINALLY know what these little mommy birds at our house are – they come around often and they sit with me – seemingly not afraid at all of me. They feel supportive and sweet. I feel assured and reassured with them. In that moment, I felt so happy! The one we saw I believe was a boy – he had much more distinct markings than those at home – and how be-you-tee-full he was!

The robin redbreast is a bird of Spring, a time of new growth and new beginnings. It flies into our lives on the winds of change asking us to weed our personal gardens and plant new seeds for our future. Rebirth and renewal require changes in all areas of life that have become stagnant and outdated.  The robin redbreast teaches us to how to make these changes with joy in our hearts. Its song is a happy one reminding us to let go of our personal drama and learn to laugh with life.  If this medicine is underdeveloped those with this totem are continually challenged by the prospects of change. Difficulties arise and emotional discord can surface.  Learning how to release our attachments to the old is one of the life lessons the redbreast helps us master.

This bird packs a powerful punch.  It holds strong significance in ancient myth and lore.   One legend had its origins in European mythology, in which the bird of Spring was associated with the New Year and  represented divine sacrifice and the rebirth of the spirit.

In Medieval Europe the robin redbreast was often depicted attending the Christ child, an emblem of the Passion to come.  It was told how, at that fateful hour, it was the tiny robin who flew to Jesus’ Crown of Thorns, striving valiantly to pluck the spines away with his beak.  Unfortunately the bird succeeded only in tearing his own breast on the thorns. Ever since then it was thought that all robins wore red feathers on their bosoms as a badge of honor.  The robin redbreast is a bird of divine service. Those with this totem often have past life ties to the Christ energy.  They make excellent priests and missionaries.

The red coloring of the robins chest is linked to the kundalini in man.  This life force lives coiled up within the base of the spine. When sufficient spiritual growth has been attained it uncoils, rising up the spine to create heightened awareness.  This process enhances psychic vision which leads us into enlightenment.  Those with this medicine are dedicated spiritual seekers. Growth can be slow and arduous. With patience, compassion and proper focus spiritual ideals are achieved.

Robins lay powder blue eggs. This is the color associated with the throat chakra in man.  It is also linked to heavenly inspiration.  Because the throat chakra’s main function is to express the will of God and the egg is symbolic of new life, this helpful little totem teaches us how to assert the creative will of God in all we do. It leads us into new beginnings without fear by restoring faith within our hearts. [With intensive healings the past few months, I believe my throat chakra may finally be healed… thank you!]

Bird nation is the level of animal that is just below spirit – birds take energy up into the heavens. How appropriate that we would soar with the birds – from those who run on the ground to those who soar high above us. We encountered so many species today – they seemed to pull at our attention constantly – even while we (I?-lol) chatted incessantly!

On the way up the dusty road to check out our last stop on the trip – Double J Hacienda & Art Ranch – I saw a graceful Blue Heron. I’m so versed, I called it a huron – lol. Magnificent is all I could feel as I looked at this amazing creature. Patient, poised, clear is what came to me as I looked at him (her?).

The heron is a long legged wading bird. Herons are often seen standing motionless, as if in a meditative state, on its long thin legs.  This stance symbolizes its ability to maintain balance through proper focus. Its inner foundation is secure although not fixed.

When the heron feeds it stands in water.  Its neck is bent in an S shape.  The flowing pattern of the letter S reflects the rhythm of this bird.  Understanding your personal rhythm and responding to it accordingly is imperative for those with this medicine.

Water is associated with the mysteries of life.  It is connected to the emotional body of man.  When you see a heron standing in water notice how deep the water is. [This one was standing on dry land.] This depth can symbolize the depth that needs to be explored within self.  The deeper you go the more you discover.  Whatever is discovered take the time necessary to stand in silent reflection.  In this way clarity of understanding is known.

Those with this medicine have strong emotional natures. They feel things deeply and with passion. The challenge here is to keep passionate thoughts and feelings under control in order to maintain a balanced emotional nature.  The advantage of this energy indicates the passion and ambition needed to complete tasks and accomplish goals.

Herons are seldom seen flocking together.  They are solitary birds that enjoy their own company.  Heron medicine people are independent and willing to make changes when the need arises. Herons stand out in their uniqueness and know how to take advantage of things and events for their own benefit.  By observing the heron, its actions and its lack of action we learn how to perfect out personal flight through life.  Herons hold a silent power, their grace, agility and majestic presence reflect balance.  This balance is the gift they offer to all who choose to receive it.

All in all it was a great day – full of beauty, a few showers, all shades of green – dark, light, bright – and I found myself falling in love with the country my mom is fed by. We always lived in the country and I never liked it much – it felt too far away from everything. Too quiet. Too spacious. Mom calls me her concrete baby, and I admit it, I’m a wuss…not a nature girl and certainly no camper. But I can appreciate the wind, the magnificence, the beauty, the silence. Oh, and the company!

This weekend, Kathy Garland and I drove west to check out some more retreat centers. She has an amazing women’s leadership retreat coming up (a few spots still remain, I believe, check with her directly) the first week of November, and we are also looking for a place for upcoming events (more info on those later).

I drove since mom, a.k.a. Dusty Rose, lives out west (past Fort Worth out near Mineral Wells – Texas for those of you who don’t know) and I have driven that route many times before. We hit Starbucks for a quit pick-me-up, and then drove, and drove, and drove.

Along the way, our feathered friends greeted us. I know I’ve been posting quite often about animal messengers, but, it seems, we’ve been having more than our fair share of close encounters of the bird kind!

While we were at Wildcatter Ranch, we saw a West Texas Roadrunner. Stunning! I have never seen one, but instantly knew it had to be a roadrunner. I found myself mesmerized by this little bird, and he (she?) seemed to be paralyzed for a moment as we gawked at it. The feeling I had was – industrious – open, and nimble. Quick, but maybe too quick for its own good. How am I being too quick for my own good, I wondered? As we descended the hill leaving Wild Katter, Kathy pointed to rain in the distance… it looked like mist – almost like dust (which is what I thought it was – ha ha). A nice spit bath for us for a moment before the sun came out from behind those gorgeous thunderhead clouds again. Wow… this is why I love how beautiful the southwest is.

Here’s more on roadrunner…

Roadrunners are ground dwelling cuckoos ranging in length from 20 to 24 inches from the tip of its tail to the end of its beak. Legend has it that the roadrunner got its name from running on the road alongside horse drawn carriages. Although speed is its ally time is irrelevant to the roadrunner. [Whoa – that is like me!]  It can do several things at once and isn’t bothered with completing one thing before moving on to the next.  This is partly due to its great mental agility represented by the crest on its head..  Many native cultures believe  a "crest"  symbolizes quick and efficient thinking capabilities. Those with this medicine have the ability to think quickly on their feet, flow with rapid change and understand the proper use of speed.

The roadrunner is a large black and white mottled ground bird. It has strong feet, a long tail and an oversized bill. It can run up to 17 miles per hour. When the roadrunner senses danger or is traveling downhill, it flies, but it cannot keep its large body airborne for more than a few seconds and so, it prefers walking or running.  It has a clownish gait when running or walking and reminds us to laugh with ourselves and not take things too seriously. [Kathy and I laughed at how he must be unbalanced – the sheer size of his body would do that].

Roadrunner teaches us the importance of honoring our personal needs first before giving to others. [Ooops…:)] Some might think of this as a selfish act but in truth it is a balanced one. Although roadrunner has an ulterior motive when offering the female food (that of breeding)  it carries the message of survival.  Take care of yourself first and then assist others.

Because roadrunner is always thinking of ways to get what it wants it reminds those with this medicine to use the ingenuity of their minds.  If a problem occurs "think" yourself out of it. Highly intelligent, roadrunner medicine people have the mental capabilities to fix or change any situation. Procrastination is not part of this medicine. Roadrunner reminds us that mental alertness, speedy action coupled with the right use of sound always produces harmonious outcomes. [Amen!]

Cardinals seemed to come out of the woodwork today. I have never really noticed them that often before, but Kathy says that she sees them all the time so all of a sudden, I saw like five pass in front of the car – crazy!

Kathy mentioned that cardinals deal with spirituality. When these little guys flew past us, all I could seem to think about was work… getting from one place to another. Like, they have a point, what is the point? I’ve shared before that with healing, and letting go of the rescuer in me I’ve often wondered what the ‘point’ is…the point is always to love – ourselves and others. How can I love myself and others in the highest way possible? A question that haunts my waking hours!

Here’s more about cardinal…I included all of this because most of it spoke to me… wow!

The cardinal is a power packed bird that transforms and awakens us.  Its color and its voice are its two strongest characteristics.  It is a member of the finch family and is often recognized by its brilliant red color.

The eggs laid by the female hatch in about twelve days.  This, along with the cardinal being a year round resident, reflects the rhythm of the number twelve.  The number twelve often has important significance for those with this totem.  It can indicate a turn of events or a life changing situation.  When the cardinal flies into your life expect a change to occur within 12 days, 12 weeks, 12 months or at the hour of 12.  Because this bird is a year round resident its medicine is available at all times and should be used by those with this totem whenever a need arises.

Cardinals have a loud whistle,  Whistles penetrate the air with sharp distinct tones.  They demand our attention urging us to hear what is carried through the air.  Both male and female cardinals join in the whistling.  This reflects the need to integrate our male and female characteristics into our day to day life.  Feminine energy is linked to intuition.  Male energy is linked to perseverance.  If both are operating within our life our intuitive knowledge has the perseverance and strength necessary to manifest our goals and dreams.

Cardinals eat many decaying weeds and injurious insects.  When a cardinal appears in your life it is telling you to pay attention to your eating habits.  Are you eating things that might be injurious to your health?  IS your diet nutritionally balanced?  Extra care should be given to the blood and circulatory system.  Past life ties to overindulgence or the consumption of poisonous substances is often linked to cardinal medicine people.

The bright red color of the cardinal is very symbolic.  Red represents the blood or life force of the Mystic Christ.  In yoga circles this vital force is known as the kundalini.  The kundalini lies dormant within us until activated by a disciplined spiritual practice.  Once activated spiritual power can be attained.  The cardinal offers safe passage into the world of personal power for those who ask for its help.

When a person with cardinal medicine steps onto a spiritual path there will be no turning back.  Everything else in their life will seem insignificant.  Extra care must be taken here to insure personal happiness, particularly in the area of one to one relationships.  Balancing spiritual ideals and physical pleasure will need to be instated in ones life so harmony on all levels is known.

Cardinals are named for the cardinals of the Roman Catholic Church with their bright red robes.  A great love or a strong dislike for religion and churches is common amongst cardinal medicine people and can indicate a past life connection with one or both.

The cardinals voice is strong and clear and reflects an air of importance.  This power packed bird can teach you how to express your truth, develop confidence and walk you talk.  If you respect its teachings it will lead you home.

This post is getting tooooo long… more tomorrow! :)

What part of the world is grabbing your attention? What’s on your radar?

How People Find Us.
  • animals omens cardinals kundalini lies dormant
  • cardinal medicine totem

I can always tell when I’m getting ‘too’ busy. Why? Because it takes more for ‘me’ to notice what I’m noticing. My habit of noticing things is strong, so whether my conscious is included in my noticing, those things are still there and available for me to recall later (through prayer or meditation).

Such is the case of the blue jays last week. I’ve been busy, Kathy and I are doing Fearless Manifesting calls, and we have clients to serve, and we have our Small Business::Big Success group here in Dallas. All of this put me right in my business brain. However, the larger, wiser part of me patiently noticed all of the blue jays crossing my path.

The final ‘noticing’ that really got my conscious attention was when I saw something out of the corner of my eye and jerked my entire head to see what it was – a blue jay, on the ground, eating like a pigeon. Then, about 10 minutes later, one literally WALKED right in front of my tire on the street! And, unbelievably, yet another one a few moments later almost hit my windshield. Even the most UNAWARE or SLEEPWALKING person would find those hard to miss.

I just laughed… and said, “Okay, okay, I see you! Thank you for being so persistent!” How loved you feel when you see these things! How patient God and the messengers are with us!

Yesterday, I talked about connecting to the messenger… and what I felt with these jays was brave, courage, choice. Here’s what has been written…I highlighted the areas that spoke to me. You can do this too! Listen as you read to what leaps out at you.

blue jay photo

The blue jay and the stellar jay have a reputation of being a robber of campers’ food and of nesting materials.  They wait until other birds have gathered the necessary essentials for the nest building and then rob them of it [not that I would rob someone, but I have been known to find a good wheel and make it better!].  Although jays do posses these tendencies it has other qualities that are far more important. Jays carry the power of presence.  They are confident and fearless.

Both the blue jay and the stellar jay create a tremendous amount of noise when engaged in a robbery. This noise works to the jays advantage.  The more noise they make the more chaotic the situation appears.  This distortion of energy becomes the jays victory song. [Hmmm, will have to let this percolate! Songs keep coming and coming and coming…I even wrote one the other day when I prayed for strength.]

The jay reflects lessons in how to use personal power correctly and efficiently.  They remind you to pay attention and not allow yourself to be placed in a position in which power is misused against you. Those with jay as a totem need to heed this warning.

The bright blue crest on the top of a blue jays head links it to father sky, reminding those with this totem that true power must be utilized with integrity and balance.

Jays are incredibly resourceful. This can represent a need within you to learn adaptability for survival with the least amount of effort.  Since the jay doesn’t usually migrate and stays around all winter, it serves as a teacher who will settle in and work with you as long as you need it.

Jays are fearless and have been known to gang up and drive away hawks and owls.  They know how to play the game of life and succeed.  Jays reflect great talent, but that talent must be developed and used properly.  If the jay has flown into your life it indicates that you are moving into a time where you can further develop the innate wisdom that lies within you.  Jay is willing to teach you fearlessness, adaptability and survival but you must be willing to follow its lead and become "power through presence."
