Beverly lives in snowy Canada where it has been snowing for months already. She wrote this just a few days ago.

I was rushing to leave Wal-Mart when I saw it … or maybe I should say I felt it. Just inside the store doors I was drawn like a powerful magnet to this scene, and had they not been so intensely focused, they might have noticed me having stopped and intently starring at them … taking in every instant of the BEAUTIFUL Love that was flowing through, and all around, them.

There were three. Dad, Grandma and the third was a Cherub … well, let us say in more ordinary terms, a gorgeous baby boy, probably about 10 months old. He had been Christmas shopping with his loving Guardian Angels, and now his bright royal blue snowsuit was being donned to keep him warm on the way home this wintery evening! Grandma was doing the dressing, while Dad held the Cherub!

What was so extraordinary about this seemingly ordinary scene? Two things especially will always remain in my heart …

The Love that poured from Grandma’s eyes felt almost palpable as she donned that small blue snowsuit on her precious Grandson! Was it my imagination? Was she in the beauty of this present moment but also somewhere, back thirty five years or so, dressing her own infant son, who now towered before her, in a little blue coat to protect him from the cold? This scene of pure never-ending Love etched itself indelibly on my heart, and then, I saw another …

It nestled in beside the first, not only etching itself upon my heart, but filling me with a deep sense of peace … the peace that comes from truly knowing the eternal nature of Love …

Was this also my imagination? It seemed that this towering grown man, so lovingly holding his infant son, for a few brief (but eternal) moment was small again, reveling once more in his Mother’s precious unconditional Love. Quickly, however, he returned to his role as grown up and parent, but not before momentarily turning his head to the side (perhaps so no one might see his heart shining from his eyes) in so touching a gesture as, ever so briefly, he seemed to be embracing the Love within and all around him.

Might that fleeting look upon his adult face have said, “I am grown now, yet the Love I knew all the while I grew, remains, remains the same, and my adult Heart is full, as full as was my child Heart. I am at peace.” And then, out the doors into the blustery night they went … snowsuits, but most importantly, hearts full of Love keeping them warm.

Why do I cherish this brief encounter so? Perhaps because that same fleeting look upon the face of my grown Son has also filled my Heart, and I was reminded, with such awe and gratitude, of the indescribable preciousness of Love … Love that reaches across all time and into eternity.

Soon, on Christmas Day, we will be celebrating another awe-inspiring story of the Love of Mother and Child, a story that miraculously birthed the wondrous Love that now encircles our beautiful planet Earth, uplifting all who feel such Love with the blessings of Peace Hope and Joy!

Recently, I had the fortunate opportunity to watch her hilarious parody she wrote for her mother for Christmas. It might take a few minutes to buffer…well worth it!

We spent the entire day and most of the night with my mom “out in the country.” She and my step dad have lived out there for nearly 20 years, and most of the time growing up we lived ‘out in the country.’

I have never loved ‘living out in the country.’ My mother refers to me as her ‘concrete baby.’ And I’m not sure why I didn’t like the country as most of the time growing up you could find me outside, walking here, walking there, roaming in the jungle in Guam, trekking miles each day to and from friends’ houses.

I guess the reason why is that the country is a place where you make your own place. You aren’t plugging into another person, another activity, something else to ‘keep you busy.’

The day had two focuses…I would help my Lelon clean out his woodworking shop (he’s a craftsman that makes stunning rustic furniture), and Mark would help mom and Lelon come into the 21st century with high speed internet. It was a very big day out in the country to say the least!

The very best part of being ‘out in the country’ was watching Chance be with mom in her workshop, watching Food Network’s Cake Master Bake Off, and remembering what it was like when it was me in the chair next to her watching some chick flick for the 20th time (Baby Boom, A Star is Born, etc., etc.), and how the more things change, the more things stay the same.

Plus, we had banana pudding that was to die for…and Chance made a pillow with big long beads on it that he has named “Charm,” which reminds me how much our life is charmed no matter what is going on when we drink in these precious moments.

Oh, and mom lives with her windows open, so there’s always a cool breeze that blows through the house. I love that feeling of air on my body that is cool from outside coming through the room. Simple things, simple life.

This is too funny not to share. I can’t *WAIT* to get photos to put up here! My mom called me a few weeks ago, and was so excited I thought she might actually PEE her pants!

Anyway, she was gushing about something or other she found at First Monday Trades Days over in Canton, Texas (just east of Dallas). She goes on and on about how she can’t WAIT to give me my birthday present. She knows EXACTLY what she is going to give me, and she just has to have me go pick out THE ONE I want, but she can’t TELL me what it is because it is a SURPRISE!

So, last weekend we went out to see Dusty Rose (a.k.a. mom) and she is as excited as a little puppy at 12 weeks old (and you know how much they wag their tales and all that. She is nearly SQUEALING as she shows me what she is going to get me, but NOT like the one she has because it is just TOO SMALL, and I need a BIG one.)

So what is it?

It was an iron heart with wings. But not just any heart… THIS one was SHINY and SPARKLY and PINK! Yeeee! Happy, happy, happy days!

Then, after she caught her breath, she took one big inhale, and then blurted out that SHE is ALSO going to get a gift when we go TODAY to get my birthday gift (she can’t wait until mid July to give it to me), and guess what she is getting?

You guessed it… or maybe you didn’t!

A FLYING PIG! But not just any ordinary flying pig, THIS flying pig is polka dotted! (And, of course, we have lots of pig stories in our family, including the CONCRETE PIG mom gave me 20 years ago that weighed 150 POUNDS! No, seriously…doesn’t everyone have a garden pig?)

Now, I think I’m just about as excited as she was, and I’ll try not to pee my pants until I get there to see them! More photos to come!

This past weekend, Mark, Chance and I popped up to Bowie Trade Days. For those of you who aren’t from the south, trade days are similar to a trade market – a place where merchants could come together for a big outdoor market to sell various wares (flea market style) for willing customers.

Mom, a.k.a. Dusty Rose, has a new booth up there. Most of you know that she is an artist, and is always dreaming up some new type of creation guaranteed to make people ooh and aaah.

She loves, loves, loves cowboy and cowgirl things so is having a ball creating new collage art on tin with old-style, vintage photos. Since my dad is native american, and I resonate so closely with the spirit of my dad’s heritage, I found myself magnetized to one of mom’s latest creations – it is so simple,yet I found myself wanting this so much! This collage features a native american family and ALL of them are smiling! It perfectly matches the feeling I have when I meet with the grandmothers or the grandfathers… true resonance for oneness.

True to mom… she sent me home with this wonderful creation, an extra big antique-style heart for the back fence (watch for a post about the back fence in a few days), and two jalapeno pepper plants – all her gift to me. What a wonderful Easter to imagine a world where we are all one… and to feel that so much too.

This song reminded me of the rusty, dusty cowgirl as she refers to herself… love you mom. And, for those of you who don’t know Sara Hickman… wow… talk about a SAINT. She is one of my very favorite people in the whole entire world. What a HUGE heart she has for loving everyone!
