Quite literally for months I’ve been writing and speaking of ‘being like the birds.’ Birds must eat a tremendous amount of food to energize their bodies to be able to fly. They fly without thinking, without knowing if a worm is going to be there when they get to the other side of the street so they can have the requisite energy to keep flying. They go, trust and know that whatever they need will be provided by a power higher than they and that they must only do what they know, which is equipped in them at birth and provided by others along the way (i.e., mama bird, daddy bird, family, friends).
In the midst of the intensity this week, I spoke to a dear friend on the phone. I expressed my concern for my increasing agitation. She said, “Tina, you are just tired of feeling like your wings are pinned down or stuck.” When she called, some part of me instantly began walking toward our backyard and I took off my tennis shoes and plunged my legs into the water as I sat in the shade in 107 degree weather! As soon as she said that, my attention was drawn to something flapping around in the pool. It was a bird whose wings were weighted down by the water! Talk about the speed of the world expressing what your focus is! I quickly hung up and fished the baby bird out of the pool return.
As I did, I remembered seeing him a couple of days earlier. He was in the holly bushes behind our pool. I saw him ‘trying’ to fly. He kept falling down, and I remember wondering if he was sick or injured. As I held him in my gloved hands, I looked down at his face. The judger part of me inspected the situation. Bony, feathers stuck all over the place, no full feathers on his head, bulging eyeballs and pink skin poking out from wet feathers. Pretty pathetic looking; weak, frail are the words that came to mind. I figured he was a baby. As I continued to look in his eyes, I began to feel his spirit. “Wow, how beautiful you are!” I exclaimed spontaneously.
I put him under the rose bush and near his mother who was squawking away just feet above. We went to run an errand and when we came back he was over in the hollies again. I went out a few hours later to check on him and there he was, jumping from limb to limb trying to get the hang of his wings. Soon enough, he flew away.
I have often written about nature and our true connection to divine through it. This little bird, like many others over the last few years was such a gift and representation of me right now. I, too, was ‘doing’ a lot of the things to get ready to fly, but had not fully committed to taking flight. I know this to be true, in my heart. And, despite many others who would look at me and think I had…I hope that my passionate sharing will invite you to consider what you believe is true.
I, too, committed, just like my little friend, to fly. Just like the birds, I will not know what the journey will bring. I can’t know if there will be a worm on the other side of the street, but what I do know is that there is a divine support system that allows me to be secure in not knowing. This support system delivered me outside at that very moment this bird was fighting to escape the pool’s current, despite the fact I haven’t been outside during the middle of the day but a few times this entire summer. Just like I was a supporting point for that little bird’s journey, I too can rely on others to support me along the way. So can you.
I realized a week ago I’ve done the inner work. I’ve created the teachings (by working with others who were delivered by this same, divine support system). And there’s a huge world out there waiting for me (and you). It is time to FLY high!
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness concerning all acts of initiative and creation.” – W. H. Murray
The last two years have shown me how powerful I am in Spirit in all ways. This includes not committing and keeping most support away from me as well as many messengers except for those I specifically requested. Commitment following a decision is essential for flying. Can you imagine what would happen if a pilot launched thousands of pounds into the air and wasn’t committed to the flight? DISASTER! I’ve done this…it is a pretty painful way to learn how to not fly! LOL I have some great battle stories from the trip, though. There’s a gift in all experiences!
Remember, where you are is perfect. There’s nothing to fix and nothing is broken. If something is not moving, it is exactly what is being created. If you long for something, to create a new experience, do not waste time looking to fix what isn’t wrong to begin with: Begin first with what you desire to create, then consider…Have you decided? And, are you committed? Are you ready to fly?
Aaah, sooooo sweet. I got to see him fly for the first time, too.
Ever receive a song written especially for you? Wouldn’t it be wonderful to write a song for someone you love?
A friend wrote this song for me… all I can say is…Wow!
Today is a day like none ever known
The day when a bright light was born
Dancing through life a day at a time
Today is the day to let your light shine
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday
Happy Birthday to you
One of the things people said over and over this year was… I’m so happy you were born. Now, maybe you have heard that all of your life, but I haven’t and each time I heard it I felt deeply touched.
Another friend sent this scrumptious art creation… Can you even believe it???
Last year, I wanted to do something special for a dear friend. I came up with the idea of sending a birthday card for every year she has been here – one for each year she was celebrating.
At first, I thought I would whip these out one a day, and I did for about a week, and then it was one every three or four days, and sometimes it was one every five days or so… MONTHS later… Let’s see, we share the same b-day, and I believe we finished around the first of the year… you do the math… July through January! LOL Good thing it is the thought that counts!
I enjoyed it so much and found myself not wanting to rush and wanting to really savor the experience. This took time and it is something I would recommend to anyone who really wants to consider how many years a person has lived… a card a year doesn’t seem like much until you start. And, that was exactly my intention… to really consider what makes a life and to celebrate my friend’s precious life in an extremely intentional way.
Do something fun, do something creative for someone you love today!
LOVING this so much!! I have truly enjoyed so many art-full, blissed-out blogs in the last couple of years. I’m thrilled to be part of such a spirited group of artists. Thanks for including me!
I’m blessed to have a huge office and lots of creative space. This is what you see when you walk into my office. That desk was one of my manifestations that came from my friend Debbie (who had no idea I had it on my vision board!)
Here’s the more creative side of my office. I love to write handwritten, decorated notes to friends and clients and at my table on the right. I sometimes sit there to work on my laptop if I’m looking for new inspiration.
I sit here to have a different viewpoint, to think about things, to read magazines (fave – Where Women Create) and wonderful books like Violette’s Journal Bliss (current FAVE). I love this chair because my husband can sit in it and I can sit completely (and comfortably) on one of the arms, and read or talk with him.
This is where I do most of my blogging, writing and creating. I have my little laptop here on my desk, but often I blog upstairs in the den so I can be with my family and also jot down an inspired thought or two.
I love words and quotes… I surround myself with things that make me smile. I love Compendium (the little quote window cards) and photos of people (two and four-legged) that are special to me. I have tons of angels in my office and whimsical inspirations like Tinkerbell and Elle Woods Barbie.
Most of the time Rico is actually in my office with me (the big boy on the left), but my dog who passed many years ago remains with me in my heart – he’s everywhere in my office. His name is Gar.
Many of these were gifts…I’m so grateful to feel so much love.
When I look out from my desk when I’m thinking or something, I have many things to inspire me. I know it’s almost time for 4th of July, but I can’t put the bunny up yet! This is my altar corner…where I put things that remind me we are all connected and loved.
I love color and don’t seem to notice purple next to red, white and blue or even green. LOL I hung a little hanging sign that says “Believe” on the back of this credenza – I nailed it on there, so it isn’t going anywhere.
Mark (my husband), painted this office this yummy berry-licious pink (my signature color) for me two and a half years ago. I STILL am in LOVE with it! I feel so happy in here. Before, it was moss green (yes, really). I love sparkly things and roses (my backyard is FULL of them in all colors). This print was a gift from my friend Debbie…she knows how much I love roses.
One of my favorite pieces of art…it reminds me to spend time in the garden, which I love to do.
Words given to Debbie and then returned to me with love notes on them. I stare at these every day. They make me smile.
This bunny is too cute not to share.
I love creativity of all kinds. I started playing guitar again recently after 34 years! I bought this butterfly at Ross – had to have it for some reason. I love what it looks like here.
Send some beautiful words to someone today… aren’t these delicious?!
This is at my desk…I have crown stickers on the inside of my lampshade. These little items are gifts from friends. I usually have a candle burning in my office – that’s the mosaic holder to the right. And, of COURSE, I have a million different colored markers, pens, pencils and crafty items.
I took a workshop with Sally Jean when she was here in Dallas a little over a month ago (wow, how time flies!). I loved this little pendant with the Winning Lottery Ticket Fairyette on it. I got this fortune the next day. How fun!
I try to be organized. Mark put this hanger on the other side of my armoire so I could hang all of my ‘bags’ – computer, recycling, purses, etc. Two snuck over to the other chair…oh well.
What I see when I look to the left of my computer when I’m writing – Chance and Rico, Steph (my friend from Nevada) and me, Tracy Porter cup with yummy tree bark colored pencils from Miss Debbie, True Friends bookmark from Miss Debbie, and Mr. Gar. I miss him so much.
Love notes from friends and clients…angels…Legally Blonde Barbie (I really do LOVE Barbie)…Chance at 4…so sweet.
My prayer box, queenie things…another picture of Mr. Gar and gifts from loved ones.
I keep this notebook with all of my ‘to dos’ right on my desk with little pencils and stickers. I have tons of colored notecards – I like to write intentions every day. Some days I do it; some days I don’t.
I use notecards for everything – to do lists, wish lists, ideas for books, ideas for creations, people to call back… I have tons of them in many different colors. I LOVE paper!
For some reason, I don’t like to look at the calendar on my computer. I always have a calendar to my right so I can glance over at it. Kelly Rae Robert’s artwork has found its way to me…people tell me it makes them think of me. I have been given many of her creations! I am a huge fan of Dan DiPaolo and Blanche Lively…my mom gives me an Extraordinary Women calendar every year. Who couldn’t love a couple who love each other in such an extraordinary way as Dan and Blanche? If you haven’t read their little story in the back of their calendars – do so!
My creative space, including Vision Board! See the flying pig hat? A gift from The Fabulous Tax Babe. My mom made the sign above my whiteboard…I love to move around and create from different viewpoints. Is everyone like that?
Always writing…I have tons of journals. Write, write, write!
Mark made this for me one Christmas…I love to look up all the time for some reason. I never noticed that until I started thinking about these photos today!
This is an antique mailbox I used to use as a prayer box. I wish you could see it better on here. I love these black and cream signs.
Easter has stuck around for me this year. This pig’s wings actually flap when you have this hat on your head. It’s a great way not to take yourself too seriously!
Crowns and mom’s art… perfect to stare at when I’m wondering! My scribbles for thoughts…
What I see when I look to the left from my desk. I love my space. I bought the old farm table on the left at an antique sale many years ago when I first was divorced from my ex-husband. It was one of the first things I bought for myself that was expensive. I felt so good splurging on something I loved.
I have tons of quote books, old books and other journals of inspiration. I am ADDICTED to paper!!! Please don’t tell me that regular books and magazines will ever go out of print. I LOVE lovely printed items.
One of my favorite people to see in my office each day… Chance, our son. This is last year before his hair got to be almost as long as mine!
Another guy who spends lots of time in my creative space. He’s good company and doesn’t bark very often. He does snore when he goes into a deep sleep. LOL
My hubby made this all possible. Thanks honey! I’m very lucky to be so loved. All of my ‘supplies’ are tucked neatly in my desk and in my outside workshop… I’ll post those pics in a minute!
