Last week, during a coaching call, I remembered this story about how I was bound and determined to buy Mark a BMW convertible for Christmas. I shared this story and we laughed, and I want to share it with you.

After we bought our current home and we were able to leave behind the crazy remodeling and the constant searching for a new home, I had so much energy left over to do many other things, including more clients and also working with the intuition to be more intentional. My business was the best ever – doubling in revenue from the year before, and I felt settled in a way I had not felt in a long time.

I felt grateful for Mark and all he had been through with me, the post partum depression, and helping me with Chance while I juggled other responsibilities with clients. When Mark and I met, he drove a sporty Mazda Miata… top of the line with sport tires, etc. When we found out we were having Chance, we needed to have two family cars, and the Miata wouldn’t work for a baby. We bought another car and so we had three cars, and with insurance and everything, the cost was steep. Mark decided to sell his car though I would have never asked him to do that.

Finally, six years later, here we were in our new home, my business is going really well, and I decide I’m going to buy Mark another convertible. I have always loved BMWs – ever since I bought my first 318i when I was 18. So, of COURSE, I wanted to buy him a Z3. I have always bought cars used with a little formula I found in a financial book (buy a car that is two years old, finance it for no more than 3 years and you will never be upside down), but I made so much at that time that I decided I would get a short-term loan and then pay the car off in six months.

I went out and started looking. I wanted to spend less than $15,000. I found a car with one of the dealers we had purchased a car with before, and test drove it and thought, this is perfect.

I negotiated the price and felt good about the numbers. I called the bank and they set up the papers. Yet, as I walked out of the dealership, Archangel Ariel (whom I recognized because she has been one of my teachers for a long time) said, “Do not buy that car. You will regret it.” Now, WHY I did not LISTEN, I am not sure except I will say that it had to do with the “If I can see it” game I had used for most of my life! I could SEE Mark in that car and I could SEE it parked in the driveway! This is why I now do not advise this way of working with imagination and intuition…it is just way too unreliable! This can show you something is POSSIBLE, but then you need to tune into your inner wisdom to know what is best for you! Live and learn as they say.

So I buy the car anyway, and, sure enough, kaboom!, regret city! The dealer said the car had been inspected and yet the entire panel of lights had been unscrewed so that you could not see the warning lights that were all on! Can you believe that? Crazy.

We took the car to our import auto repair shop and they did an inventory for everything that needed to be fixed on the car. It was nearly $6,000! Just less than half of what I paid for the car in the first place!

Luckily, I knew that the money was not a problem…there was more of it where that came from. For me, I didn’t want to do to someone else what the dealer had done to me. So, I asked, “Where can I sell this car?” And, I was told, “You will sell this car to someone who can make it write for someone else.” Guess who that was? Yes, correct, our repair shop bought the car from me for exactly what I owed for it, and then they used the warranty I purchased (thank goodness) to make the car right for someone else.

Is that amazing or what? I felt so grateful when it was over, and yet Mark realized that I knew how much he had given up to ‘get’ the family he always wanted.

When buying a car, I definitely recommend LISTENING to guidance or intuition each step of the way. I was blinded by the outcome, and even when the warning came as strongly as it did, I just ignored it. Ouch!

I believe I may have shared this story on a show or in a post, regardless if I have before, it’s a great story about how intuition helped us buy our current house.

I wrote yesterday about the house we had before this one. When we bought that house, the market was sizzling hot. We would rise each day, check the listings and then don our swords so we could go fight for a house. We lost house after house after house. One house was lost by just $500! At the time, Chance was five months old, I had a busy practice and was just entering, unbeknownst to me, post partum depression. I had zero patience and felt defeated each day we would spend five hours a day looking and putting in bids just to lose a prospective house.

One day, we found this lovely house, but there was something that just didn’t feel right about it. Unlike all of the other houses, this one had been on the market. We liked it, the price was right, but something held us back from saying yes.

I had a dream that night. In my dream, I saw a red car driving across the desert with a man with gray hair in the driver’s seat and a woman with black curly hair in the passenger’s seat. It reminded me of the Arizona desert. As I watched them crossing the desert in this red convertible, I saw the woman turn back and, when she did, she appeared like a skeleton! I awoke deeply afraid and scared.

At that time, I had always had great intuition, but wasn’t sure about how to decipher its messages and symbolism. I had always played this game of “If I can see it” then it must be meant to be. There had been many times when I would try to picture myself doing something and I couldn’t see it, so I would just change my course. That morning, with my heart pounding in my chest, I played the “If I can see it” game. I immediately saw a picture of Mark standing over the stove cooking eggs. I took that as the sign that we should get that house, and told him about it.

Now, looking back, I see the dream very differently. The family who sold us the house was moving to California (and would be driving across the Arizona desert). The black-haired woman represented our real estate agent at the time, who was in the car with the seller. Which, is probably why, even though the house had no offers, we could not negotiate on the price.

However, armed with my “I can see you in the house,” we trudged off and bought the house. When we got in it, we were amazed at how bad the house was. The previous owners literally had slapped a coat of paint on everything and it was pretty bad underneath. Mark described the experience as going out with the prom queen and waking up with someone else.

I began to think about the dream as a warning… remembering the feelings of fear, but my fear had driven me toward it rather than away from it.

We moved in and that was the beginning of three years of nearly non-stop renovations. It was like we were driven to update this house and had no choice in it. When we weren’t renovating, we were traveling or searching for our next home. I felt like I never got any rest in that house!

Oh, and that ‘feeling’ that didn’t quite feel right … well, it ended up being a ghost in the attic who was waiting for the girls who lived there before us to come back. The boy was the son of the first family who lived there (we were just the third family in 30 years). He had been a drug addict and stumbled out one day during the winter and froze to death at the park nearby. Though it may sound kind of scary, he was actually a huge gift to me because he allowed me to directly face him and address my fear of the spirits I could always feel around me every since I was little. When I finally got the courage to ask Mark if he felt it, Mark confirmed that he, too, was feeling the effects of the spirit… the cold, the depressed feelings, the malicious energy.

That led me to my first mentor and she came and helped this boy pass over. After that, the house felt so much better! I did, too! And, I realized I never had to be afraid again of these spirits.

I was actually away at Sonia Choquette’s Six Sensory Certification when Mark called me and told me that we would be moving. I was surprised since we all were feeling so much better. He told me he was thinking of wanting to move a wall and that was IT!, it’s time to move. That felt good to me, and when I arrived home, we started looking again for neighborhoods.

About a week later, we found the house we now live in, but I didn’t LOVE it like Mark did. The back of the house reminded me of the apartments I had lived in nearly my entire life. I wanted a house that felt like a HOUSE, not an apartment. We trudged on and continued looking. At the time, the numbers were staggering to me … were we really going to pay THIS MUCH for a house? I gulped at the thought even though I knew I could always make more, it just seemed like a lot to me.

Several days passed with us going to more and more houses, and they were more expensive, but didn’t have the things we liked nor many of the features we listed on our manifestation list. I wondered why it seemed so hard, and then I thought, Mark has never bought a house that he liked, if he likes that one, then I want him to have it. I had bought a house with my ex, and then we had the crazy house together, and my love for him wanted him to have what he wanted.

I no more thought that when I heard a voice say, “If you want that house, you must go now. There are buyers coming by the end of the week who are willing to pay much more for it.” I immediately told the real estate agent we wanted to go back to look at the house once more.

After we talked about it, and I asked Mark if he liked it, and he said ‘yes,’ then we decided to make an offer. The real estate agent asked what we wanted to offer. We knew the people needed to sell, but wanted to make a fair offer. Their price per square foot was higher than the average in the neighborhood, so we did not want to offer full price, but I did not want to go through all of the back and forth we had experienced with our last house.

As we stood in the kitchen, I heard a voice say, “He will not sign the paper until he sees the number he must have written down.” I immediately just ‘knew’ the number and knew we had to have that number written down. I suggested we offer that number and then back out $3,500 for the carpet, which needed to be replaced. We sent the paperwork over and it was accepted. We had 10 days to get it inspected and so other buyers could still come look at the house during that time.

Just like I was told, three days later, a couple from out of state fell in love with the house and told the real estate agent that they would pay more than the asking price for the house – a whopping $10,000 more! The inspection went through and we bought the house, and I can happily say that we have not spent our lives renovating or looking for another house. We have lived here and enjoy this house so very much!

This is not us, but a great representation of how we felt!

Over the weekend, I watched some shows on HGTV about selling houses that are unsellable. I watched one where the homeowners had 52 showings for the house, and no offers. It reminded me of when we sold our investment property (our former house before we bought our current house).

That house was completely updated except for the kitchen. We had installed Brazilian cherry hardwoods throughout the downstairs, updated the built-in home office desk in the family room, painted, updated all the bathroom fixtures. Basically, everything in the house was new, except for the kitchen, which, for us, was not a big deal because we don’t spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

We listed it in March, and by the time Easter weekend showed up (the biggest house-hunting weekend of the year, by the way), we had had 20+ showings and no second viewings or offers.

The real estate agent didn’t have any solutions except to drop the price, and we had invested $50K+ in the house with all of the updates. My sense was that it was NOT the price. It felt like it was something else.

The next day, I woke up with a boost of energy, and I thought, We are going to sell this house! The pricing felt like it was addressing the wrong thing – that there was another reason why the house was not selling. I went over to the house, and sat in the living room, and said aloud, “Okay, guys, I need help. We’ve got to sell this house.”

The first thing that came to me was to upgrade the kitchen. I saw granite countertops and a new oven and stovetop. I just let the impressions flow in.

After the initial impressions quit coming, I asked, “Okay, so show me how to do this.” At the time, we were dealing with the aftereffects of the conference debacle (which was the primary reason we were selling our investment house), so my budget seemed virtually non-existent, but I knew if this is what I was supposed to do, the way would be made for it.

I heard, “Go to Craigslist.” At the time, I had heard of Craigslist, but was by no means someone who uses it all the time. I went there, and sure enough, found appliances, including a double-oven and gas cooktop and microwave in the color that matched our kitchen for $300. Next, I asked about the granite I had seen, and was guided to a builder’s surplus. We bought the granite for the entire kitchen for $400. Our real estate agent referred us to a handy man, and he charged $380 to install everything. We had a brand new kitchen for $1,200! The hardwoods were already in the kitchen and the fixtures and paint had already been updated, so with the few changes we made, the 32 year-old kitchen looked brand new (the previous owners had installed a top-of-the-line Kohler kitchen sink that matched the new granite).

Within a couple of weeks, the house sold for near the asking price!

Okay, which one of you wanted to know this? I woke up this morning with this very clearly on the top of my heart. I smiled and thought, ‘Oh, that’s an easy one!’

It’s Wednesday and Christmas this year is Saturday. That means you have three more days to shop for just the right gift for that special someone.

Stumped on what to give the person who has EVERYTHING? Not sure what to give someone you are just now getting to know? Want to give a gift that will leave the person breathless, saying, “HOW did you know?”

Use your intuition!

Here’s how to do it…

1. Think of the person you want to buy a gift for.

2. Think of how much you care for this person. If the gift is for someone that you know and perhaps don’t have super deep feelings for, then just recall a moment in time when you felt really, really happy.

3. Go about your day doing what you do.

4. Notice what ‘images’ or ‘thoughts’ pop in of ideas for your gift. Note: This is completely different from what most people do when they actively think about what to buy, thinking of ideas and rejecting them or accepting them. This is how you allow the idea to pop in and come to you!

5. TRUST what you get. If you aren’t sure where to get the gift, then ask (in your mind or out loud), “What is the best place for me to go to buy this?”

6. Go about whatever you are doing and then just notice a store that ‘leaps’ to mind. TRUST what you get.

7. When you are done, be sure to CUT your connection to the person you are buying for. Loved ones always stay connected heart-to-heart, yet you want to be sure you are clear to buy for the next person.

8. Have fun with the adventure of intuitive shopping! One of the best things about it is that usually the other person will be amazed at how you just ‘knew’ what to get that they really wanted!

Wednesday morning as I worked on a client project, a guitar came to my mind. I thought of the guitar and immediately emailed a client to ask about guitar lessons (as I can’t remember how to play anymore). What’s a guitar without knowing how to play?

I also asked about vocal lessons. Last year, when I spoke at Indigo Nation, I felt pulled to talk to a woman who worked as a vocal coach, but I didn’t follow through.

A few months later, the Messengers began singing during the sessions.

I found that if I relaxed, the sounds would move through me much like wind through a flute. If I became tense, it could be scary … sounding.

So, I went to see a friend for lunch… and then back for group coaching, where I got to talk with my friend… client… about the guitar. I told her I didn’t know what it was for…WHEN would I play it? I wondered.

That evening, I met with two new clients and bingo… guitars came up again. Apparently this new client LOVES guitars. I could feel a palpable electric energy moving through the conversation as we talked about his love of guitars.

I found myself wondering if I might be able to do this after all… he has more children and more business interests than I do. If he has time… why not me?

The next day, I worked away on another project, and in the other room (Mark’s office) I heard this very tinny, irritating  (to me) sound (Mark later said his speakers are not that great on his computer). It sounded like a thumping, grating sound… oooooooh. It turned out to be a video Mark watched on YouTube. A video called United Broke My Taylor Guitar. Coincidence… you decide.

I got the message. Loud and clear.

The following day (this past Friday), I woke up with this idea to play guitar and sing at our group coaching workshop (we meet once a month). I emailed my friend to bring her guitar…which she did, even though we didn’t sing and play, the intention was set.

Oh, and about a month ago, a movie from a year ago came to mind… The Guitar… an independent film about a woman following her heart. Wow.

What is your heart saying to you?

So this morning I rolled out of bed – have two clients today (love Saturday morning appointments!) – and jetted off to Starbucks to get a cup o’ Joe (Mark usually makes my coffee, but I wanted him to sleep in).

As I started to turn out of the parking lot I felt this surge of energy move through me. I had this intense feeling – URGE – to drive VERY fast. I don’t mean fast as in 70 mph, but FAST!

I took Mark’s car this morning (he has a Jaguar) because I left my keys upstairs (and honestly was just too lazy to go get them). So there I am in this sleek, heavy car feeling the NEED for SPEED. I checked the time – had 30 minutes before my first call and jetted out to central expressway.

As I pulled onto the highway I could feel every part of my being perk up and slowly I pushed on the accelerator… 60… 70… 75…80 – no, still too slow… 90. Ah, yes, that feels good. I wanted to go faster, but my fear came in… tickets, cops, lights flashing… no thank you.

As I enjoyed the moment, I remembered a spirit poem I wrote several years ago where I talked about my spirit running with the hooves of a thousand wild horses. I totally cracked up thinking about cars have horse power! I could feel my spirit open and free and while I was being VERY careful to be safe, I knew that this speed was important.

I love to go FAST. You all know that. It just clicked that THIS is my essential nature… speedy! I felt very, very happy this morning after my 10 minute drive at 90 mph.

What does it mean? I’m not sure… the wisdom will come, but it feels like I’m ready to move at a faster pace.

I’m wondering… what part of you is nudging you for attention?

On the way home, I wondered about this need for speed… thinking about the vision I had as myself as a ghost flying next to the hooves of wild mustangs across the desert…and what came to mind is when I bought my very first car. It was 1987, and I bought a luscious 318i BMW with sunroof. I LOVED that car. I drove it 120 mph on flat top ALL the time. I felt like I could do/be ANYTHING!!! Wow, what a feeling … can you hear the Flashdance music in the background? I really had so much fun in that car. The places I went! (this pic is not the actual car… but similar).

Mmmmm, hmmmm… this was a great ride with my spirit! Follow yours and see where it goes!

LaRue Eppler joined us on the show tonight, and I just want to let you all know about her book. No, I haven’t read it cover to cover, but I HAVE read it heart to heart. I have read ENOUGH of it to know it is worth triple its $18.95 price tag.

I completely related to these feelings… as I read it, I said… Yes, that’s what it feels like, Yes, that’s right, Yes, that makes sense.

In short, LaRue has offered you a wonderful guide to know your intuition so you can LOVE it and HONOR it. The more you do that, the more it grows and soon you are one intuitive gal or guy.

I know I’ve been gushing about a LOT of different people this week, and yet I realize I’ve met a lot of people to gush about! I want you to know them too!

As someone who has dealt with intuition from a very early age, and being a medium, which is a whole other adventure in the world of the afterlife, I am passionate about helping the kids of today live with their gifts and love them too (all while loving who God created them to be).

In my life there is not much I would go back and change, but one thing I would, if I could, is for my mom to have understood what was going on with me. I lived paralyzed in fear most of my childhood at night…feeling the ‘stuff’ around me, and praying that ‘everything’ would be okay.

I’ve talked to other intuitive kids who are now in their 30s and 40s and a lot of us slept with parents, grandparents and siblings until we were well into our late teens. As crazy as that might sound, I feel it is important to share that this is REAL. And, a little bit of understanding goes a long, long way in the lives of intuitive children.

When I think of the clients I’ve worked with, those who are so very empathic and intuitive, who not only connect to what is around them, but connect to the energy around them, too, I find that a warrior spirit within me comes up to shout to the mountaintops that these children are completely normal…the way God made them… and gifted only because they have maintained such a strong connection to their Creator.

For a long time, I felt like my gifts were a curse. I was told by people outside of my family that it wasn’t ‘right,’ that people who can ‘see’ things are evil, and now, as I work with Jesus, Mother Mary, and so many other Divine Messengers, I realize that there is SO MUCH we do not know and understand. That our world is SO MUCH BIGGER than we realize, and that we all are SO MUCH more powerful than we can comprehend.
