So, I don’t know what rock I’ve been hiding out under, but a few months ago, we toodled over to the Fairview shopping center to go to a movie, which ended up NOT to be the correct movie theater. The theater I thought was the correct location was not even open yet. It turned out to be the new Gold Class Cinema. I didn’t even bother to check it out as I thought it was just another new movie jaunt.

Apparently, my inner navigation knew I was meant to go there – eventually. Miss Debbie gave us a gift card for what I can only describe as a movie watching experience. One you will want to have for yourself at least once before you die – or many, many more times!

When I opened the card, I was shocked at the value of it – $100. I thought, ‘Wow, that will buy a lot of movies!’ Well, as it turns out, that’s not completely true because this isn’t just any movie theater.

This is the first class ticket equivalent for movie theaters.

When Mark and I went to see Inception last Friday night, we pulled up right next to a Bentley. Next to that, a rare Lexus, next to that a top-dollar Escalade. Hmmm, what’s going on here?

Let’s put it this way…this is the way to watch a movie. But it is not cheap. It isn’t SUPER expensive, either, though so hang in there with me.

We entered into the theater lobby that contained just two long staircases and two escalators. Everything was pristine, clean and stunning. The first thing I noticed as we stepped into the lobby was how cold it was in there despite a two-story building glass wall facing west at 4 in the afternoon and 108 degree Texas weather outside. Wow.

When we arrived at the ticket counter, the environment took on what Mark called an “airport bar” feel. I would say it was super chic, uptown style with modern accents. The staff was dressed in black and all were stunningly, model gorgeous. If the movie American Gigolo holds any of your memory’s brain cells, then you get the drift. Perfection.

We originally planned to go see Eat, Pray Love, but with theaters that only hold 40 people, two of the shows were already sold out. We settled on Inception, which friends told us was amazing. The tab for two tickets: $50.

Since we had a couple of hours before our show, we decided to have dinner. We ordered the sliders and a buffalo chicken sandwich. The sliders were $16 bucks for two sliders that were larger than most of the ones we’ve ever had (think Chili’s where they are two bites at most). These sliders were AMAZING and were a good five or six bites. The buffalo chicken sandwich was huge, but we didn’t like it as much. Then, we celebrated my birthday again (after all it was a birthday gift!) with Death by Chocolate… one of the BEST chocolate cakes we’ve ever had, and YES, we are chocolate cake experts. A cup of coffee, a glass of milk and we polished off that $100 gift card in less than two hours. We even added five bucks to what was left for the tip. **Note: Gold Class Cinemas has specials during the week, so go and have fun at a price that works for you!

So, let’s see… was it worth it? YES!

By the time we got to dessert, the frigid AC was beginning to make me feel like I was sitting in a sub zero freezer. Mark was in heaven as he is so hot natured. Ladies, take a sweater or don’t wear shorts and a tank top with a little wrap like I did.

We walked in and the 40 seats are actually recliners that go all the way back. Sandy, the bartender, told us that some people cover up with the blankets and actually fall asleep! I can see why because when we got to our seats, I curled up in my blanket and got oh so comfy! We sat in the front row, just 25 feet from the screen and it was amazing. WOW – yes, this is something even the most frugal person MUST experience! For us, we will definitely be going back!

Thanks, Debbie! And, thanks, too, for encouraging us to GO and have fun rather than saving it for a rainy day. That hot August day was the PERFECT day to go chill – literally!

P.S. I know you can order food for inside the theater, but I’m not sure how that would work out…we enjoyed eating dinner before the show. When I went to the bathroom midway through the movie, I noticed that a LOT of people enjoy their cocktails…one couple had a whole bottle of wine!

There’s something special about Disney World. People act differently; there’s a reverence at the park that is simply unmistakable. People don’t throw trash on the ground. Everyone has a kick in their step that says, “Hey, we’re at Disney World!” and the world seems to be just that much brighter when you step foot into Walt’s world.

We plan to spend this Valentine’s with Mickey, Minnie and the team. This is our fourth trip as a family … and we can’t WAIT to see the new attractions – especially the new coaster at Animal Kingdom.

Wherever you are this Valentine’s Day…spend the day in LOVE!

So this morning I rolled out of bed – have two clients today (love Saturday morning appointments!) – and jetted off to Starbucks to get a cup o’ Joe (Mark usually makes my coffee, but I wanted him to sleep in).

As I started to turn out of the parking lot I felt this surge of energy move through me. I had this intense feeling – URGE – to drive VERY fast. I don’t mean fast as in 70 mph, but FAST!

I took Mark’s car this morning (he has a Jaguar) because I left my keys upstairs (and honestly was just too lazy to go get them). So there I am in this sleek, heavy car feeling the NEED for SPEED. I checked the time – had 30 minutes before my first call and jetted out to central expressway.

As I pulled onto the highway I could feel every part of my being perk up and slowly I pushed on the accelerator… 60… 70… 75…80 – no, still too slow… 90. Ah, yes, that feels good. I wanted to go faster, but my fear came in… tickets, cops, lights flashing… no thank you.

As I enjoyed the moment, I remembered a spirit poem I wrote several years ago where I talked about my spirit running with the hooves of a thousand wild horses. I totally cracked up thinking about cars have horse power! I could feel my spirit open and free and while I was being VERY careful to be safe, I knew that this speed was important.

I love to go FAST. You all know that. It just clicked that THIS is my essential nature… speedy! I felt very, very happy this morning after my 10 minute drive at 90 mph.

What does it mean? I’m not sure… the wisdom will come, but it feels like I’m ready to move at a faster pace.

I’m wondering… what part of you is nudging you for attention?

On the way home, I wondered about this need for speed… thinking about the vision I had as myself as a ghost flying next to the hooves of wild mustangs across the desert…and what came to mind is when I bought my very first car. It was 1987, and I bought a luscious 318i BMW with sunroof. I LOVED that car. I drove it 120 mph on flat top ALL the time. I felt like I could do/be ANYTHING!!! Wow, what a feeling … can you hear the Flashdance music in the background? I really had so much fun in that car. The places I went! (this pic is not the actual car… but similar).

Mmmmm, hmmmm… this was a great ride with my spirit! Follow yours and see where it goes!

I’m back, and let me tell you… that was quite the long haul!

We started out from Plano, Texas, went to Little Rock, Arkansas, course corrected through the mountains to go to Branson, Missouri (I’ve been there, but Mark and Chance haven’t), then hightailed it over to St. Louis, Missouri where we went to the Six Flags there.

Wow, what a trip, but the good news is that the kids from St. Louis weren’t out of town yet, so we virtually had the entire park to ourselves!

One of the things I’ve been afraid of is wooden coasters. Some wooden coasters can literally be back-breaking experiences because they are SO bumpy! We went to Six Flags Magic Mountain (near Los Angeles) last August, and I rode the Colossus with Chance literally 10 times – it is the BEST wooden coaster ever. It is smooth as glass and still has the jumpy, bumpy ride of a woody.

This trip, I decided before we left I would face my fears and really go gung-ho big time. In St. Louis, I did this on The Boss, a huge, wooden coaster that literally is so fast, your hair sticks straight out behind you! What a blast. After about a minute and a half of sheer terror and holding on for dear life, I got used to the speed and started to actually enjoy it. LOL

From St. Louis, we headed up to Chicago, Illinois… actually we went to a suburb, Gurnee, to Six Flags Great America. This is, by far, one of my favorite parks. They have a nice mix of big coasters, thrill rides, and amusement park rides.

I put my mind on notice that I would not be checking in until MUCH LATER when I boarded the Superman, Ultimate Flight. This is a coaster where you sit down, and then the chairs recline forward and you are then hanging from the seat facing the ground in “flight” position (like Superman). While I THOUGHT I wouldn’t be thinking…I honestly could NOT stop thinking about the seat mechanism somehow failing while we were shooting through the breeze at 60+ mph. Worse, I had my baby next to me who, of course, was gushing…"Isn’t this great mom? Isn’t this the BEST”? And here I was, “Ugh, yes, great” in between sheer nightmare thoughts of my seat coming undone – or worse, his seat coming undone.

After that white knuckle experience, I had to get right back on – I couldn’t let my fear control me. As luck would have it, we climbed into another seat (the lines were empty), and away we went. The second time out wasn’t as bad, but if I’m being honest, I was still a bit concerned about those clips (no seat belt folks – one mechanism locks!)

We tackled Raging Bull while we were there in Gurnee – a new type of roller coaster that has a 65-degree drop, which, honestly, is the BEST coaster I have EVER ridden! It is by far our favorite of all! We rode it over and over again – what a blast! I was seriously scared at first until … *ka-ching* we effortlessly floated from peak to peak with hardly any jarring movements! Yay!

You all know how I’m always nagging at you to take breaks, to play more often, to GET OUT and do something good for yourself. Well, it’s my turn and I’m on vacation for the week, and I doubt I’ll do much blogging or anything else, including the show this week.

I am taking a BREAK and plan to enjoy every second of it! Think of me swimming around the pool, riding roller coasters (Six Flags here we come), staying up until all hours of the night, and then snoozing until all hours of the morning.

Hats off to you, to summer, and to me, too!

Alright, this is the *last* time I’m going to gush on and on about what happened last week at Canton. I talked about it LAST week here at the blog, and also on the show, but I’m feeling the need to share, so here’s one tiny little post!

First, if you are in Dallas-Ft. Worth or even near or around DFW, and if you haven’t gone to Canton in a while, you’ve GOT TO GO, baby! It is a smorgasboard for the soul and mind. Oh, and you DO NOT have to buy anything if you’ve been laid off or out of work, etc. Get some friends together, go have some fun, and walk your patooties off with some laughter and make some really good memories, k?

I remember that a few years ago a friend was in a low place – didn’t have a lot of money to spend (a.k.a. retail therapy) – and I suggested that she go and take in the ‘energy’ she was craving. It’s not always about the buying… often it is the sensory stimulation we crave – the colors, the textures, the different feelings associated with art.

My friend decided to ‘begin to dream again’ by going and looking, and she said she was surprised she didn’t feel deprived… that she actually felt better.

Last week, as we walked up and down the aisles, my mom just kept saying over and over again ‘I just need color,’ ‘I need MORE COLOR in my life!’ We found ourselves drawn over and over to various colors, and I know the chakra I’m healing right now is my throat. Lord, I feel like the healers have been working on it FOR-EVER, and it still isn’t done! LOL So, I was magnetized to a HUGE 6 foot cross that was – you guessed it, a shade of turquoise/blue – similar to the throat chakra.

Gotta share a couple of really cool people we met last week:

Annette’s Touch of Class – these gals have gotten all gussied up and have more than their fair share of rhinestone-studded rings, tennies, and tees – if you need some sparkle or sass in your life, this is the place to go!

I SO WISH I HAD A REALLY COOL PHOTO OF JONIKEITHCO CREATIONS TO SHARE WITH YOU!

JoniKeithCo. – if you need a razzmatazz of energy and twirl around the rainbow, take a look at these cosmic mosaic creations and tin art love – hard to believe this brother sister team are still in their 20s – rock on!, and last but not least…

Kelly Moorhouse’s Iron Willow creations are what spawned my last post, and the flying pig! These sweet glittery, shiny, colorful iron creations sure will put a smile on your face. You could probably just stand by the side of the booth and be entertained all day long watching people react to her stuff!

Alrighty then, thanks for letting me share, if you have other cool people we should know, share them with me!

This is too funny not to share. I can’t *WAIT* to get photos to put up here! My mom called me a few weeks ago, and was so excited I thought she might actually PEE her pants!

Anyway, she was gushing about something or other she found at First Monday Trades Days over in Canton, Texas (just east of Dallas). She goes on and on about how she can’t WAIT to give me my birthday present. She knows EXACTLY what she is going to give me, and she just has to have me go pick out THE ONE I want, but she can’t TELL me what it is because it is a SURPRISE!

So, last weekend we went out to see Dusty Rose (a.k.a. mom) and she is as excited as a little puppy at 12 weeks old (and you know how much they wag their tales and all that. She is nearly SQUEALING as she shows me what she is going to get me, but NOT like the one she has because it is just TOO SMALL, and I need a BIG one.)

So what is it?

It was an iron heart with wings. But not just any heart… THIS one was SHINY and SPARKLY and PINK! Yeeee! Happy, happy, happy days!

Then, after she caught her breath, she took one big inhale, and then blurted out that SHE is ALSO going to get a gift when we go TODAY to get my birthday gift (she can’t wait until mid July to give it to me), and guess what she is getting?

You guessed it… or maybe you didn’t!

A FLYING PIG! But not just any ordinary flying pig, THIS flying pig is polka dotted! (And, of course, we have lots of pig stories in our family, including the CONCRETE PIG mom gave me 20 years ago that weighed 150 POUNDS! No, seriously…doesn’t everyone have a garden pig?)

Now, I think I’m just about as excited as she was, and I’ll try not to pee my pants until I get there to see them! More photos to come!

About a month ago, Velma Gallant called to see if Eric (Velma’s son) could send Chance a ‘Flat Stanley.’ I had no idea what this was – with the only picture conjured by the name “Stanley” being a screwdriver by the same company name!

I soon found out that Flat Stanley is a little paper guy who travels from town to town collecting information that will be sent back to the person who sent him in the first place.

We have had so much fun filling out the form and taking the photo to send back – complete with Mr. Flat Stanley himself!

When I think of how much fun we have day to day living in ‘Chance’s World’… Flat Stanley will be a fond memory we are happy to include!

Thanks Eric, Velma and Flat Stanley for helping us make happy memories!

And for those of you who are wondering… yes, Chance’s hair is REALLY that thick and that LONG. He likes it like that… and says he ‘likes the way it feels when the wind blows it.’ If he likes it, we like it!
