Today is Self Love Day. And, boy has it been a long road for me to come to know Self Love for myself.
Back in 2007, my radio show was new. I followed guidance to create the show and felt like I had no idea why.
I invited a woman to be on my show and it seemed like no matter what we did, it just was not destined to be. At the time, I had an actual producer who worked the recording of my show. He had no idea why the show did not record. There was literally no reason for an technical malfunction.
To me, it seemed that working to accommodate this woman’s schedule was a lot of effort. It felt hard. It felt forced. Yet there I was trying to do it. The first show didn’t record, but I plunged ahead.
The day we planned to pre-record the show, I juggled many responsibilities. My mother-in-law needed a ride to the hospital and I was the only one available that day. I figured if I could drive just a little faster and still get her to the hospital and get back for the show, despite not having one second to be delayed.
What happened that morning would change my life. It was the day I decided I had had enough.
That morning, I packed Chance and my mother-in-law into the car. I planned to speed. I planned to push the limits of my time that morning. I did not ask for help. I thought I can do this.
But something didn’t feel right that morning, and it set me on edge. I have sped before, but this tension had my intuition on high alert. I pushed the Tahoe to go faster as my heart pounded underneath. I began to think about jeopardizing our safety. Pound…pound…pound my heart thumped.
We made it to my brother-in-law’s house. He said he would come home and stay with my mother-in-law at the hospital. I dropped her off and peeled out of the driveway. I had exactly enough time to get home.
Meanwhile my heart is pounding out of my chest. Something was not right, but what? I didn’t ask to find out, I just soldiered on to meet the responsibilities of the day.
I knew I was going to be two minutes late when I entered our neighborhood. I dialed my producer to let him know and that is when I found out what I was picking up on. I had bumbled the pre-record time. We were not supposed to record at the top of the hour like my regular show, we were supposed to start at a quarter til the hour! My intuition had been firing on all cylinders, but my mind was on a charted course already.
A flood of emotions invaded my body. First, I felt bad for messing up the time. This woman who seemingly had no time for this show and whose schedule was inconceivably difficult to accommodate had shown up and I was not there. If I have never been anything else, I have usually been responsible. I felt so guilty for leaving her and my producer hanging. Then I felt regret. Regret for putting Chance and my mother-in-law in harm’s way. That day, I did not even consider my own safety. I felt angry at myself for running around like a chicken with my head cut off to try to figure out some way to FORCE this interview that never did happen.
The truth of the situation was that the producer was fine. He was there anyway producing another show. No big deal.
The truth is that Chance and I did arrive home just fine, despite my own recklessness.
The truth is that the interview was never supposed to be. There were many, many signs to indicate this, but I just was not listening.
When I composed myself, I called the woman to apologize. I was ready to fall on my sword without one word of an excuse. I flubbed the time. That was that.
When I called, I was surprised at what I heard on the other end of the line. She said, “I have a message for you from your angels. Would you like to hear it?”
I said, “Yes, I would.”
She said, “They want me to tell you that you need to love yourself. You don’t love yourself enough.”
At that moment, every bit of anxiety, guilt, anger, irritation at myself bubbled up and I literally wanted to reach through the phone and strangle this divine messenger.
She continued, “I have been learning to love myself and now I am at 51%.” She babbled on and on about herself and all I could think is how much I hated this moment. I thought about how her schedule was all-consuming in trying to connect and how I had bended, given and given to try to accommodate her. I felt enraged as she babbled on about her own journey without even considering what it had taken to schedule the first show, then schedule another one – all around her time. Love herself, yes, she was definitely doing that and not inconveniencing herself or her schedule.
“Pay her for your gift,” interrupted my loathing and contempt. The voice was firm and loving and I recognized my own spirit guide.
‘Fine. I will, but I am done with this pretzel making routine,’ I said in my thoughts as she continued to pat herself on the back.
I sent her $100 for her message to me that day. She was astonished at the amount for the less than 10 minute conversation. To me, that felt an appropriate amount.
I had wanted to scream back, “I DO LOVE MYSELF!!!” My ego was ENRAGED at the gall of this intrusion into its idea of itself.
Then I considered the truth of the divine message. What does it mean to love myself? I had not been loving to myself when I drove like a maniac an hour and a half to try to get back on time. I did not love myself when I ignored every cell in my body that said, ‘Just cancel this, it’s not worth it.’ I did not love myself when I put my most valuable possessions, including my precious child, in harm’s way through recklessness. I flat out just didn’t love myself. I saw the truth that day…and like many other instances of truthtelling I’ve experienced, it wasn’t pretty.
The angels were right. And, regardless of the messenger, the message was received.
That was the beginning of starting to learn what self love is all about to me.
And, though I read this now and it may not sound funny, if you could hear me tell this story, you would be rolling on the floor laughing like a client was a couple of years ago when I shared this same message…It’s time to love yourself. And, I shared with her how I wanted to throttle the messenger who brought me the message! And how I was SURE I DID LOVE MYSELF, thank you very much!!!
Love isn’t easy though it should be. Once you unravel all that isn’t love, self love gets a whole lot easier.

Yesterday, I woke up with a ton of energy moving through my body. My heart felt like it was racing – a sure sign of high vibes in an ungrounded container.
I jotted off the information coming in with the day’s wisdom…a thought for a client, a piece of my presentation for next week, an idea for a blog entry… and decided I would return to bed for just a few more minutes.
I snuggled in with Mark and he started rubbing my back affectionately, which felt good for about 5 seconds until I realized my ungrounded state was not going to allow for ANY MORE INPUT!
Ten minutes later I headed out the door for a much needed walk to get my body grounded and centered and back on track. I did not pass GO!, I did not check email…well, maybe one email 
… I did not eat, drink, NOTHING…my body called and I responded.
I took off like a woman with her hair on fire. I walked deliberately, in a straight line toward something I did not know I was moving toward. I walked and walked and walked. Think Forest Gump, only slower. I walked out of my neighborhood, across the bridge into the adjoining older neighborhood.
The feeling was I needed older trees. Something about their energy felt different. Who knew? Who cares? I just went with where I was pulled. I paused for a second when I came to another large street…should I keep going? My body wanted to go forward, so I followed. I kept walking and walking and with every step I felt better and better.
This reminded me of when I was a little girl…I would walk miles and miles every day.
I felt pulled to the left, so I took a turn and then another left, I took another turn. And, there it was… almost like a beacon with a halo around it. A ‘sign’ of sorts… a message for sure… FLOW. F-L-O-W in three foot letters. And, just in case I missed it…the words, Go with the flow. I stood there laughing!
Stay in the flow and everything is available in every moment!
Every moment is a divine creation between you and all of Creation.
Frog as Totem…Transformation
The frog is the totem of metamorphosis.
It symbolizes coming into your personal power.
It reminds us not to become bogged down with day-to-day living.
It is the totem of water.
Its voice calls forth the rains.
Emotions are associated with water and
a frog totem may be telling you to get in touch with your feelings.
People with frog medicine give support and energy
where it is needed.
They can cleanse the negativity from an environment.
Yesterday, I wrote about opening the door, and man did that get my juices stirred up!
In the intuitive sessions I do with clients, I’m amazed at how CREATIVE the messengers are. They say so much of the same things to each person, but they use the person’s life, what matters to that person to say the same thing I hear over and over again – the principles of living in the Truth. I’ve always been in awe of the sheer creativity of being able to say something over and over again in a way that always feel fresh, new and original.
One of the things people ask me the most when I’m out is about when I say, “When you ask, it MUST be given. If you aren’t receiving, that’s not God’s fault! If you are truly asking, it is being given.”
People want to know exactly what do I mean by that. And this is it… God’s promise is that when you ask, it is given. Not sometimes on a good day when the messengers are feeling good. Not every other time when you want something really, really badly, but every time. I believe that with health issues – particularly where children are concerned – this is the hardest to comprehend by the mind. I can’t tell you how many children have gotten sick to bring a family together. Or a pet that has soaked in its master’s toxicity to the point of almost dying. This is how we are all in it together. But, by no means is this a bad thing knowing that God’s grace is always available.
In quantum physics, the universal laws are just as supportive. You send out the call, what you send out comes back to you. It is that simple.
Now, here’s where the jammed up thinking happens. You ask, and then you think you know how it is supposed to play out, you think you know how God is going to handle the delivery, you think you know what the delivery will look like, etc. So, with all of this thinking you go to your door (code for your heart and mind united) and ‘look’ ONLY for what you think is going to be delivered.
This is where everyone gets SO CONFUSED! They treat the divine connection like a to-go service delivery instead of this amazing connection that is full of wonder!
The rub is that your conscious mind is a little pea brain that can only filter a very little bit of what is actually going on around you. God’s power is INFINITE, and the part of you that is God is also INFINITE. This is the part of you to use to connect to God’s gifts! Not, the pea brainer!
Your heart can help alert you to how the gifts are coming, but you must let go of running the show and trying to manage God and the messengers!
Yes, there are some ins and outs on this, and I’m writing my next book as fast as I can to share these with you all. For now, I wanted to shatter some of the myths that people are working under that they can’t rely on God’s grace or that the messengers don’t respond. How NOT true! That is like going up to a computer and not understanding how to run a program and then saying the program doesn’t work. It does, but do you know how to use it?
My experience with these amazing, divine beings is that they are eternally patient, kind and loving. They want nothing more than to serve you and assist you. They are better than any FED EX delivery system as they can orchestrate assistance across thousands of miles in an instant! Can you believe it? How fun!
Here’s a little guidance of what I know:
1. Ask good questions. Ask for what you desire. Keep it simple. Be sure it is what you really want. When I work with clients, I can see where they really believe they are asking for what they want, but they really aren’t. Ask at a very elementary level.
2. Be open to receive it in ANY WAY it shows up. If you want time off and it shows up in the form of a health issue, then take it. This just points to your belief that it is really not a good thing to take time off for yourself. The time off comes in a way that you are willing to accept it. Just because the beginning of the time off looks like a health issue doesn’t mean you have to stay with that storyline. You can let it go and enjoy the ride.
3. Let go of figuring out all of the details. Have fun. Wonder how it is going to happen. Stay alert and on the lookout for your gifts. Most people can see something coming toward them within a week. Yes, you read that correctly – about a week, even for the people who really feel bad about receiving. So, if it has been longer than a week, then you need to ensure that you are really on the lookout.
4. Ensure what you are asking for is true. Many people say, I want to win the lottery. It is so common as most people think money will handle all of their problems. However, what is true for you is what you feel in the core of your heart. What is it you really desire? For many, with this economic downturn, they really wanted to reconnect to their family, to get back to basics, to quit living the rat race. Ka-boom, in comes the economic devastation, ushering in the time to reconnect, but is the gift welcome? No!
5. Relax, you can ask again and again! People act like they get one ticket to ask for something. They get stressed. I better get this right, they think (I’ve done it – I know!). They also don’t want to get it ‘wrong.’ All of this thinking (are we seeing a pattern here? is just slowing you down and zapping your joy. Have fun with this. YOU are the winning ticket and you can ask as many times as you want, all day long, every day, so don’t worry about it. Ask, receive and see what happens. The more you do it, the more you will develop your own connection to God and the Messengers. You can even ask for a better divine connection and relationship with them. That can make the journey even sweeter and more fun!

Looking for a Dream Life:
Yesterday I spoke at a local entrepreneur’s gathering. When Mark and I walked in, I wasn’t sure we had the right place. There literally was no one in the restaurant except for the staff. The meeting organizer was not there, just us.
So, we sat down and started talking. Before we arrived, I was concerned. I didn’t know exactly what to expect. I wanted to do my best, but had not heard back from the meeting organizer. Mark told me it would be great.
And it was.
A few minutes later, two women walked in. Followed by another. Then a gentleman. Our party was complete save for the meeting organizer. As veteran business people, we started networking, sharing tips and info. What lovely group of people!
Shortly, our meeting organizers walked in and we got under way.

Anyway… we had a lively conversation with our intimate group. The organizer apologized for the small group… yet I didn’t care. I enjoyed the experience so very much. I shared from my heart the messages that I have to give. And I realized as I felt pulled to one of the women in particular that angels are always watching over us.
We only need to step…and step again…knowing that we are guided in all things.

When Mark and I left, I said to him… I just want people to know they aren’t alone. That they can do anything and they don’t have to do it alone. I just want them to know that God answers ALL prayers and that divine support is a whisper away. I hope you know that and that you talk with your divine team today.
