I had the most delicious conversation with a friend. We talked about things that make us laugh. I had tears streaming down my face as I shared about a comic I saw recently that cracked me up.

I love to laugh. It is one of the things that makes my entire body feel alive. Belly laughs bring a satisfaction that can’t quite be quenched in any other way. It is delightful to feel that energy running through me. And I enjoy the aching of my jaw when I have laughed for a little too long. Mark can make me laugh like that. That’s just one of the things I love most about him.

To celebrate that momentous conversation, I’m going to share some of my favorite laughs recently. Do I endorse all of the humor… no… but much of it is harmless. Enjoy!

Ghost Town

imageThis movie cracked me up. Besides the whole dead people thing and all of the situational humor, I just love Ricky Gervais’s stuffy, uptight British character. Mark and I went to watch this at the theatre and were doing the silent guffaws because we were laughing so hard. I’ve watched it three more times since that first time and it is still funny. Plus, it’s one of those rare movies where every loose end is tied up at the end in an immensely satisfying way.

Ricky Gervais – Out of England

imageI admit it. I love British humor. Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python, Ab Fab – it all cracks me up. I don’t know if it is the dryness or the wittiness that I appreciate so much. Ricky’s humor cracks me up because he can really make you see what he’s saying. If you have a visual mind, you will be in stitches. I believe this is running on HBO right now.

Dan In Real Lifeimage

Steve Carroll plays a widower of three girls in this hilarious movie that shows the inner dynamics of a typical family. As a writer, I really appreciate the intricate story lines at play in this movie. It is sweet, touching and amazingly funny. If you have any dysfunction at all in your family, you’ll be right at home in Dan’s life.

Brad Paisley

I have to say that I believe Mr. Brad Paisley is one of the most talented lyricists in the history of music. I love his upbeat, happy-go-lucky tunes. They make me laugh, and keep me in an upbeat mode. His guitar playing is only improved when he unites with Keith Urban. Whoa. What could be better?
