Last Saturday, two friends and I hopped in the car and jetted off to a fun girls evening. As I drove, I looked over and saw two blue jays flying down and then sitting on the ground. Half an hour later, I looked over and I saw two cranes. A day later, I saw two doves sitting together under the tree. That same day, I came home and two mockingbirds criss-crossed my path as I walked to the front door. I looked over and, in the bush by my front door, there she sat, cocooned in her little nest with her tail feathers sticking in the air… our new mockingbird. I looked in to see if I could see her and I met with her eye looking right at me…inches from my own eyes.

I said something to Mark about the significance of the pairs. And he said, “Well, you notice birds all the time.” And I said, “No, I’ve never noticed PAIRS, before! That’s what is so exciting about it!”

Then he smiled and said, “Well, maybe it’s because it is reflecting how you feel…connected, in love.”

We each had repairs that needed to be made to our wedding bands. The day before I started noticing the pairs everywhere, we picked them up. My ring is a band of super clear diamonds. The diamonds are not large, but they are dazzlingly bright and clear. Mark’s band is similar.

Perhaps that is it.

For now, I’m enjoying the pairs everywhere!

I can always tell when I’m getting ‘too’ busy. Why? Because it takes more for ‘me’ to notice what I’m noticing. My habit of noticing things is strong, so whether my conscious is included in my noticing, those things are still there and available for me to recall later (through prayer or meditation).

Such is the case of the blue jays last week. I’ve been busy, Kathy and I are doing Fearless Manifesting calls, and we have clients to serve, and we have our Small Business::Big Success group here in Dallas. All of this put me right in my business brain. However, the larger, wiser part of me patiently noticed all of the blue jays crossing my path.

The final ‘noticing’ that really got my conscious attention was when I saw something out of the corner of my eye and jerked my entire head to see what it was – a blue jay, on the ground, eating like a pigeon. Then, about 10 minutes later, one literally WALKED right in front of my tire on the street! And, unbelievably, yet another one a few moments later almost hit my windshield. Even the most UNAWARE or SLEEPWALKING person would find those hard to miss.

I just laughed… and said, “Okay, okay, I see you! Thank you for being so persistent!” How loved you feel when you see these things! How patient God and the messengers are with us!

Yesterday, I talked about connecting to the messenger… and what I felt with these jays was brave, courage, choice. Here’s what has been written…I highlighted the areas that spoke to me. You can do this too! Listen as you read to what leaps out at you.

The blue jay and the stellar jay have a reputation of being a robber of campers’ food and of nesting materials.  They wait until other birds have gathered the necessary essentials for the nest building and then rob them of it [not that I would rob someone, but I have been known to find a good wheel and make it better!].  Although jays do posses these tendencies it has other qualities that are far more important. Jays carry the power of presence.  They are confident and fearless.

Both the blue jay and the stellar jay create a tremendous amount of noise when engaged in a robbery. This noise works to the jays advantage.  The more noise they make the more chaotic the situation appears.  This distortion of energy becomes the jays victory song. [Hmmm, will have to let this percolate! Songs keep coming and coming and coming…I even wrote one the other day when I prayed for strength.]

The jay reflects lessons in how to use personal power correctly and efficiently.  They remind you to pay attention and not allow yourself to be placed in a position in which power is misused against you. Those with jay as a totem need to heed this warning.

The bright blue crest on the top of a blue jays head links it to father sky, reminding those with this totem that true power must be utilized with integrity and balance.

Jays are incredibly resourceful. This can represent a need within you to learn adaptability for survival with the least amount of effort.  Since the jay doesn’t usually migrate and stays around all winter, it serves as a teacher who will settle in and work with you as long as you need it.

Jays are fearless and have been known to gang up and drive away hawks and owls.  They know how to play the game of life and succeed.  Jays reflect great talent, but that talent must be developed and used properly.  If the jay has flown into your life it indicates that you are moving into a time where you can further develop the innate wisdom that lies within you.  Jay is willing to teach you fearlessness, adaptability and survival but you must be willing to follow its lead and become "power through presence."
