Back in my days of labeling myself by what I was ‘doing’… marketer, mom, wife, daughter…it seemed so much easier to slap a label on me and move on. There was no dissonance in how I felt about the label. The label was fine.
Today, by contrast, I find that I want to be truthful in the labeling of who I am. I question the labels, and, on occasion, I’ve vehemently denied a label.
One of the labels many have given me is life coach. I’ve thought…what does a life coach do? Am I a life coach? Is this true? I used to think no, but when I talk to clients they affirm… yes, this is exactly what I am.
A month or so ago now, one special client shared that she felt like I was more like a guide – a spiritual guide that helps navigate the interiors. Now, this label has a zing to it that gets my heart racing. I’ve often seen a topographic map in my mind of various terrains we all carry within us… and my greatest joy is assisting people to find the path home to their heart and soul.
So… am I life coach… yes… a life guide… a joy guide… a soul guide that helps you create the life that you love to live. I realize, too, I am a teacher of other guides… a new label that feels amazingly juicy.
Now that feels good!
