So I get this email today from a friend. She said she laughed “UNTIL I CRIED” about my hair post. SO glad I could be of such HUGE entertainment value. Of course, as I have shared, EVERYONE in my life has said, “YOU NEED A NEW PHOTO.”
My friend “reminded” me that she also has said need a new photo – FOR YEARS. Yes, yes, yes… I’m really *NOT* exaggerating!!!
I just smiled… giggled… thinking about going to the Goddess lady next week, and wondering what GRAND ADVENTURE I’ll experience.
I give, I give! My new site is just about ready to go and all it needs is a new photo, although it WILL have a cute, sassy little photo of me when I was the Queen to Be (complete with my pink satin robe).
Stay tuned… new photo to come…
As a tribute to all of you hair heroes out there… hair from my life…
Age 6 to 7 – My heroes – Princess Leia, Wonder Woman, and the Bionic Woman. From twisty braids to hairsprayed helmet head to flowing bionic locks. My oh my! Can’t you almost hear it …boing….boing…bionic…sound…
Dorothy Hamill – The hair we all wanted when we were eight or nine. Mmm, I’d rather wear a turban – oh, it’s similar in style!

Farrah Hair…competing (ah, the days before awareness and enlightened living – LOL) with Farrah for the attention of 13-year old pubescent boys is NOT easy. We all wanted to look like Farrah or Cheryl Tiegs or Jaclyn Smith. There’s going to be a special about Farrah’s cancer battle this Friday on NBC – let’s pray for her!

Remember this? Let’s get physical, physical… Come on, let’s get phys-i-cal! I actually walked around with a headband on and had tie up shirts with matching sweats. I had pink, blue, white, and boy did I think I was it! My mom cringed. I cut my hair like this about a year later. From down to my waist to THIS. Oh, yeah, and I was on the varsity tennis team so that worked – I think.

If you’ve seen Ghost of Girlfriends Past, you KNOW we all wanted to BE Madonna as sophomores…TOTALLY. Oh, and I DO have to claim that I wore TWO watches WAY before anyone else even THOUGHT about doing that… Madonna… or others. My hair bleached out blonde naturally from being at the pool that summer, then I went ahead and helped it out some, and BOY was that a BIG DEAL to put back to brunette – can you say reverse highlights? I was totally addicted to Seventeen Magazine from a young age. I discovered Seventeen when we lived on Guam and there was not much to do at all so I was 7 and would read and re-read EVERY page of Seventeen and plan to be a model when I grew up. Alas, I did wear Express clothes, neon sweatshirts, bangle bracelets and skirts just like Madonna.

Finally, Bananarama, the Go-Gos and other New Wave bands took us into the funkadelic land of hair. One of my best friends shaved her naturally golden blonde hair (can you believe it – a natural blonde in Texas) and went around with streaks of purple and blue, I stuck with my layered locks, and Mark SWEARS I look just like Belinda Carlisle in my driver’s license photo. I’ll take THAT as a huge complement – she’s gorgeous! Maybe someday I’ll do a collage of all of my hair dos (and don’ts).

SO that is a stroll down hair memory lane… hope you laugh!
