Last year, I attended a one-afternoon version of Kathy's "Reasons Why You Rock" presentation and had an AMAZING time. I'm glad to see her offering it in a longer, retreat format. If you can go, I say GO.

Thank you so much Tina for reviewing the Sketchbook Challenge E-zine! I'm glad you enjoyed it too. Since you are so intutitive i am happy that you liked my piece on listening to my guidance in creating an art journal page! Even if you readers don't feel they are artistic they can collage a journal page in this fashion simply by listening to their inner guidance. It's such a fun way to create!

I loved reading about your excitement in finding out why you are how you are and I remember clearly that I felt the same excitement ten years ago when I found Kathleen DesMaison's work too. Like you, I did a really fast and hard detox because I couldn't wait to get to a better place. I did indeed feel better immediately, just as you did.

But because I didn't want to miss out on any of the good stuff, I went back and did the 7 steps of Kathleen's program the way she recommends them -- slowly and in order. I discovered that not only was there a huge change when I got the sugar out of my body but there was also a huge change as I learned what it means to be an addict and then to be an addict in recovery. It just gets better and better over time!

Great blog you have here!

Hi Tina

It's a wonderful feeling when you read Kathleen Desmaison's work and realise it could be written about yourself! I found it explained my food cravings, depression, self hate, mood swings and - described a solution. For me, it was 'do or die' so I followed the steps, starting four years ago.

The journey it has taken me on has been amazing. I have been released from depression, my weight is stable after years of yo-yo dieting, I actually enjoy exercise and feel happy, yes happy!

The support from Kathleen Desmaison's website www.radiantrecovery.com is fabulous. There is a whole community of people who are discovering that eating this way helps and offering support to each other.

Following the steps mean that detox can be completely painless - as it was for me. By following the steps in order and focusing on each one, feeling better and better along the way I got to the detox step and realised that I had already had four days when I hadn't eaten sugar or whites - without noticing! This is unbelievable for the lifelong chocoholic that I was, but it's true!

As you are an auditory learner you may be interested in the cd's that available on the website and explain the program really well.

Regards

Well hello there fellow sugar sensitive person LOL! It's good to meet you!

I can totally remember the time when I read Potatoes not Prozac and had an 'aha' moment - I swore blind Dr DesMaisons was looking over my shoulder and *knew* me and how I used sugar all the time. I would binge on sugar (and white bread - my body treats it in the same way) like there was no tomorrow. I was depressed, felt driven to get my next fix and had horrid mood-swings. I was barely existing.

But I read the book and was eventually ready to deal with healing my sugar sensitivity. Seven steps later doing the food has changed everything for me - I can walk past a bakery and not inhale the entire window display, my moods are balanced (as is my biochemistry!) and I feel free to live my life. Just from changing what I eat :)

Keep on doing the food!!

When I look back, I am thankful for the negative things I experienced as a child and as a teenager. Without those things to toughen me up, my life could easily have taken a different turn, and I would definitely have folded under the pressure of some of my adult hardships. So, while I didn't enjoy them at the time, they served a purpose.
